Making dumplings has long been a tradition among the Asian culture. It is considered an everyday staple. For some, it is an art form—from folding to wrapping to making sensational fillings—as they come in a variety of shapes. You can experience this yourself at Dumpling Time, one of the Michelin-starred Omakase Group of Restaurants, that recently opened on Monday, February 3, outside of the Chase Center. It is the first restaurant that opened in Thrive City.

A full experience of food and entertainment, Dumpling Time provides a lively atmosphere with sit-down dining and take-out, ten television screens, neon lights, and a full bar. That’s right, this location is the first among the three branches in San Francisco to have a full bar, serving cocktails in addition to beer and wine. Recognized for their authentic dumplings with a twist of modern influences, its giant xiao long bao, this restaurant also offers four menu items that are unique to this location. 

On the grand opening event on February 27, Dumpling Time gave us a peek of their trendy vibe while staying true to their roots with lion dance strides by Lion Dance Me, eclectic music by Djs LOVE, GINA, & BABY J. Drinks were served too! Whisky highballs from Suntory Whisky, VSOP cocktail from Hennessy, and champagne and rose from Moët & Chandon. We at Pix.CO didn’t miss out on the fun! We loved providing non-stop fun and excitement in our photo booth. 

Cecilia Chiang, Chinese-American restaurateur whose restaurant opened in Chinatown around 1960’s, was also there to celebrate with Kash Feng and Jackson Yu. 

Offerings at Dumpling Time Thrive City include American Wagyu Friend Rice, Dungeness Crab Garlic Noodles, Scallop Siu Mai, and Pork Ribs inspired by Chinese and Japanese preparations made with local California ingredients. Whether you’re a concert-goer or a sports fan, Dumpling Time undoubtedly makes these authentic food experiences.
